Applications opened on Monday 28 April, and all successful recruits will join through an apprenticeship scheme, with training and career progression supported throughout.

From firefighter to Station Manager
Mike Loader joined the service 20 years ago as a firefighter and has risen to Station Manager at Newcastle and Loggerheads. In July, he was Incident Commander at a major fire on Stafford Street in Hanley, coordinating six appliances and two aerial ladder platforms over several days.
"I've had a varied and rewarding career and no two days are the same," Mike said. "I'm very proud to still represent the service I started with and the communities I've always worked to protect."
