First Gnosall Comedy Club a rip-roaring success

A huge round of applause to the organisers of the very first Gnosall Comedy Club at the Village Hall last night.

If you didn't manage to get there, you missed an absolute treat. Three hilarious comedians and the equally funny compere Alex Hylton performed some of the best live comedy I've ever seen.

I don't think anyone will easily forget the side-splitting headline act, Barbara Nice, who cunningly persuaded the whole audience to head outside into the car park to play a game of "What's the Time, Mr Wolf?" Yes, you read that right!

Two gents that we were chatting to afterwards in The Horns agreed that it was TV-quality comedy. They travelled from Stafford to watch the two-hour show, and would do so again if it becomes a regular event.

I also managed to talk to the organiser, who said that even though they barely managed to cover their costs, they would try to make it a regular event in the village.

I really hope they do. I don't think the audience were expecting such high-quality comedy normally seen in larger towns and cities. Considering the venue was more than half capacity, I think the event has a promising future, especially as word gets out and people chat to their friends about it.

Everyone I saw had a huge grin from ear to ear as they left, including the poor man who got roasted about his Skoda, and the 22-year-old guy who attracted some, ahem, "female attention" from comic Nina Gilligan!
£12 well spent!
