Residents and businesses across the borough, including here in Gnosall, will soon have the chance to share their views on how the area should develop up to 2045.
What is the Local Plan?
A Local Plan sets out where development can and cannot happen. It helps regulate housing and employment growth, protects the countryside and wildlife habitats, and guides decisions on planning applications. Without one in place, communities have far less control over what gets built and where.
The new plan will cover eight main themes, including housing need, employment, climate change, flooding, traffic, and the protection of natural and built heritage.
When can I have my say?
An initial consultation is due to launch on Monday 8 June 2026 and will run until 12 noon on Tuesday 28 July 2026. Councillor Ant Reid, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Planning, urged everyone to get involved: "I want people to think about where the next generation will live, learn, work and spend leisure time. The work we are doing could shape our borough for the next 20 years and beyond."
