Trading Standards officers, working alongside West Mercia Police and the property's landlord, took action after a series of investigations uncovered widespread illegal activity at the premises in Newport, one of Gnosall's neighbouring towns.
During the operation, officers seized 4,120 illegal cigarettes and 3.1kg of illegal tobacco. Undercover test purchases confirmed that illegal cigarettes were sold to officers on four separate occasions.
Following the findings, the landlord evicted the tenants and closed the shop. It is the second time in the past year that a landlord has partnered with Trading Standards to shut down a business involved in criminal activity.
