The university, based in Stafford, has had a remarkable year. As well as the Guardian ranking leap from 82nd to 34th, it has been named Daily Mail Modern University of the Year 2027, won University of the Year at the Academic Employability Awards, and posted record scores in both the National Student Survey and graduate employment figures.
In the Guardian table, the university also ranked highly in several individual categories:
- Joint 4th for Value Added
- 7th for Satisfaction of Assessment and Feedback
- Joint 10th for Satisfaction of Teaching
Six subjects broke into the top 10 nationally:
- Sports Science (4th)
- Mental Health Nursing (6th)
- Film Production and Photography (7th)
- Paramedic Science (7th)
- Education (9th)
- Fashion and Textiles (9th)
Vice-Chancellor Professor Philip Plowden said the results reflect real momentum rather than a one-off achievement. "Students choosing Staffordshire are getting a genuinely excellent experience and real outcomes to show for it," he added.
