Before you light up
- Set up your BBQ on flat, stable ground well away from fences, sheds, trees and anything that could catch fire.
- Keep it away from garden furniture and never use it inside a building, tent or garage.
- Never use petrol or other accelerants to start or boost a BBQ.
While you're cooking
- Never leave a lit BBQ unattended — keep a close eye on it at all times.
- Keep children and pets well away from the cooking area.
- Have a bucket of water, sand or a garden hose nearby just in case.
When you're done
- Wait for the coals to cool completely before disposing of ash — this can take several hours.
- Never put hot ash in a bin or place the BBQ inside until it is fully cold.
