If you travelled by train through Stafford on Wednesday evening, you may have been caught up in disruption after damage to overhead electric wires brought services to a halt from around 5pm.
The lines between Stafford and Wolverhampton have since reopened, but National Rail warned that trains could still be cancelled, revised or diverted, with knock-on disruption expected until around 11:30pm.
The following services were affected:
- Avanti West Coast
- CrossCountry
- London Northwestern Railway
Passengers were able to use their tickets on alternative services, and some rail replacement buses were put in place between the two stations. Travellers were advised to check their journeys before setting off.
