Two separate crashes on the M6 northbound near Stafford have shut lanes and caused severe delays for drivers.

Motorists using the M6 northbound near Stafford are facing serious disruption after two separate crashes closed lanes and brought traffic to a standstill.

The first incident involved a multi-vehicle collision and a broken-down HGV between junction 13 (Stafford South) and junction 14 (Stafford North), closing lanes three and four and causing around seven miles of congestion.

A second crash then closed the M6 northbound entirely between junction 14 (Stafford North) and junction 15 (Stoke-on-Trent South), with National Highways confirming junction 14 was fully shut as a result.

How bad are the delays?

National Highways warned of delays of several hours on the affected stretch. Traffic was temporarily held at points to allow recovery work to take place.

If you are travelling from Gnosall north on the M6 through Stafford, allow plenty of extra time or consider an alternative route until the situation clears.
