Most places, including Gnosall, are likely to stay hot and sunny - but the Met Office is warning that isolated, intense thunderstorms could develop this afternoon and into the evening. Where they do hit, they could bring frequent lightning, large hail, gusty winds, and up to 30mm of rain in under an hour.
The warning is rated as low likelihood but medium impact, so while the chances are small, it is worth being prepared just in case.
What to do if a storm hits
- If you hear thunder while outside, find a safe, enclosed shelter such as a car - avoid trees and tall structures
- Move to lower ground if you are on high or exposed land
- Be aware of the risk of flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas
- Secure any items in your garden - bins, furniture, trampolines, gazebos and fences can all be caught by gusty winds
- Check road conditions and public transport timetables before travelling
- Have torches, spare batteries and a phone power pack handy in case of a power cut
The Met Office advises keeping a close eye on forecasts, as weather warnings can change quickly.
