Trains are running again following a freight wagon derailment in Staffordshire that left the railway closed for several days. Services resumed at the start of service on Friday 8th May.
Network Rail engineers worked to rerail the wagon and repair damage to the track and overhead power lines. Although it was described as a low-speed, single wagon derailment, it still caused extensive damage to the infrastructure.
Network Rail thanked passengers for their patience and urged travellers to continue checking before they travel for the latest information.
An investigation is now under way, with Network Rail working alongside the Rail Accident Investigation Branch to establish the cause of the derailment.
