Wildlife at the Castle is back at Stafford Castle on Sunday 17 May 2026, from 10am to 4pm — and it promises to be a brilliant day out for all ages, with no admission charge to worry about.
Animals and nature
The event features an impressive lineup of creatures, including:
- An exotic zoo with hands-on opportunities
- Birds of prey
- Alpacas
- A pony
- Bees in an observation hive
- Ferrets
Local and national wildlife charities will also be on hand with information stalls covering a range of nature topics.
Activities for everyone
There is plenty to keep the whole family busy, including have-a-go archery, face painting, a children's craft workshop, a woodland trail, coin minting, arms and armour displays at the castle keep, herb garden demonstrations, and roaming entertainment.
Food, crafts and local produce
Staffordshire businesses will be selling crafts, artwork and local produce, while food stalls offer a wide choice — pizza, toasties, sausage rolls, ice cream, cakes, jams, and a vegan option too.
Getting there from Gnosall
Stafford Castle is at Newport Road, Stafford, ST16 1DJ — roughly a 15-minute drive from Gnosall. Parking is available on site but carries a charge, so please bring cash. Overflow parking is available at King Edward VI High School, around a 10-minute walk from the castle. Organisers are encouraging visitors to walk, cycle, car share or use public transport where possible. The 5A bus runs from Stafford town centre to the castle on Sundays throughout the event.
Most activities and stalls are free once you are through the gate.
