The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has identified Salmonella Enteritidis in a batch of eggs originating from Yasensvit Ltd in Kyiv, Ukraine. These eggs are being recalled from sale across the UK.
The key thing to check is the code printed directly on the egg itself. If you see the following code ink-jetted onto the shell, do not eat them:
- 3UA1012066
Be aware that these eggs may have been repacked by UK businesses, so the outer packaging might look different and show different details. The code on the egg is what matters, regardless of what the box says.
What should you do?
- Check any eggs you have at home for the code above
- If you find affected eggs, do not eat them - dispose of them safely
- Retailers and food businesses should withdraw and recall any stock carrying this code
- If you are a food business and have withdrawn stock, contact Stafford Borough Council's local food safety team
